Popular Honeymoon Destinations of 2010

A look at the most popular honeymoon destinations of 2010

We’ve caught up with over 1,000 newlywed couples to talk to them about their honeymoon preferences and, what we’ve found is quite surprising.

54% of those who don’t have a honeymoon stay home to save money.

More than 1 in 10 people who get married don’t even have a honeymoon, with the main reason for half of these being the cost involved. 3% of newlyweds simply decide not to, out of preference, but why wouldn’t you want a relaxing break after getting married?

22% ask for money towards the honeymoon as a wedding gift

Just over 1 in 5 shrewd newlyweds had the great idea to request a bit of cash from their loved ones to put towards their honeymoon, instead of a traditional wedding gift. After all, in this day and age, most couples already live together before they marry, so who needs a new toaster anyway?!

89% say the perfect honeymoon would last 4 weeks

When asked about their dream honeymoon, the Caribbean was the most desired destination and the ideal length stated would be 4 weeks.

No respondents went to Paris and only 2 went to Venice for their honeymoon.

The study also found that typically romantic destinations are no longer favoured in terms of honeymoon hotspots. The top ten most popular honeymoon destinations for newlyweds in 2010 are;

1.    Paphos, Cyprus
