If all the snow, freezing temperatures and gloomy days have been getting you down, there’s no better tonic than feeling the warm sunshine on your face, a good book in your hand and sand between your toes. Here are some ideas to help chase those winter blues away…

Canary Islands

For short haul winter-sun it’s hard to beat the canaries, with a good climate throughout the year, splendid beaches and a variety of activities across the islands, the Canaries offer something for all ages and tastes. Choose from Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura or the lesser known and quieter La Palma.

If you’re looking to holiday on a tropical island, the Caribbean has plenty of them and all enjoy year round sunshine. The most popular and driest time to visit (though this doesn’t mean zero rainfall) is between December and April.
